I was just reminded of when I bought this CD at Borders a year or two ago. The CD has Beethoven's Pathetique, Moonlight, and Appassionata sonatas on it. Anyway, I remember when I got called to pay for my things, this ugly fat girl ringing me up tried to start talking to me about Beethoven. In so many words she called the moonlight sonata cliché and seemingly dismissed the others in a similarly negative way, saying something like "yeah those aren't bad." Personally, I think they are all fucking amazing. I'm not sure what the moral of the story is. Thats basically my story. |

Tony,
I didn't have a chance to talk to you after today's class, but I wanted to ask you if you could please stop Matt from playing his guitar while we listen to music in class. It was severely distracting/irritating and took away any appreciation of the music. I wanted to say something to him but I guess I have a fear of confrontation or something. I guess I was just hoping he would stop eventually but he never did. Also, I felt I would look like an ass. Which is of course stupid of me. Anyway, let me know what you think.

I guess I was an ass to not just jump him about that...I did suspect that he might decide that it was appropriate to not play, as he hesitated or stopped briefly here and there...but seemed to jump back in...practising what I do not know, sometimes checking pitches and/or harmonies of the recording.
However, quite right! It will not happen twice, you can be sure! It is probably better that you spared yourself, but am sorry that the full appreciation of the music was interrupted.
